Our Story

Where Law Meets Friendship (And a Little Bit of Dark Humor)

In 2001, Kelly and Dave met at the University of Portland and started dating. While clerking at the Marion County DA’s Office, they knew it was love when they went on a date to an autopsy (and didn’t find it odd). They tied the knot during law school in 2003.

Enter Matt: Moot Court President, and the 3L who would judge Kelly in her first-year appellate competition (spoiler alert: she survived). Fast forward, and while Dave found his way to the Multnomah County DA’s Office, Matt and Kelly wound up at the same large insurance defense firm – because fate has a sense of humor. Over the years (almost two decades), Matt and Kelly climbed the ranks, proving they could handle both lawyering and office politics.

All three hit a crossroads around the same time in their careers. They realized they wanted more: a place where they could take all the good they’d learned and leave behind the bureaucracy. So, Kelly and Dave bought an established employment law firm from the esteemed Craig Crispin, and naturally, invited Matt to join them as a partner.

Crispin Hannon isn’t just about legal expertise (though we have that in spades). It’s about a friendship that started in the classroom and now anchors our work together. We communicate well (sometimes telepathically), keep each other grounded, and believe that clients deserve a team who genuinely enjoys what they do—and who they do it with.

At the end of the day, we’re three friends who go way back, and we’ve brought that history into building a law firm where you’re not just hiring an attorney; you’re getting a team that knows how to collaborate, communicate, and deliver results. And yes, we promise: no autopsies on the agenda.
